Thoughtful Action: Discussion from Sunday's Sermon

1. What might be the key(s) to living a "pure and undefiled religion" before God?

2. Why do you think orphans and widows are mentioned together so often in passages throughout the Bible? Do you believe God views both groups with equal importance? (Example verses: Isaiah 1:17, Exodus 22:22, Deuteronomy 27:19, James 1:27)

3. James tells us in 1:27 that if we do have a pure religion that we will visit widows/orphans in their trouble and that we will be unstained from the world. Why do you think James chose these two things to show pure religion? Are there other things that he could have added to the list?

4. As we seek to visit widows in their affliction, what do you think should be the primary focus as you seek to do this? What are some other areas that might take the focus if we are not careful?
