Esther 2:19-3:15


1.     Why is it so important to think carefully about the sovereignty of God before times of confusion, sorrow, and fear?

2.     Why should God’s people be very careful about using evil to overthrow evil?

a.     Even though they were not believes, please use the example of Bigthan and Teresh to explain your answer.

b.     Without arguing as a small group and realizing there is both diversity of opinion and limited information, can you think of any examples of America engaging in unjust wars in order to overthrow evil?

c.      How did God use evil to overthrow evil through the cross of Christ?  Why is this a prerogative that only God has?

3.     What is God’s ultimate purpose for you or any believer? 

a.     How do you tend to fight against God’s revealed purposes in your life?

b.     How do you as a parent tend to fight against God’s purposes in your child’s life?

c.      Can you discuss a time when you pursued something with dogged determination because you thought it was profitable only in the end to have found yourself fighting against the purposes of God?

4.     Why is it so easy to worry?

a.     In what ways is worry a theological problem?

b.     How does 2 Kings 6:15-17 help encourage you to deal with worry?
