Moving toward the New Hampshire Confession of Faith

As we move toward adopting a revision of the New Hampshire Confession of Faith as our church’s doctrinal statement, some of you have asked about what we are going to do with the section entitled “The Christian Sabbath.”  My answer has been something to this effect: “We will revise it so that it reflects what we believe and how we intend to function as a church family.”  Below is what I’m proposing that article should say. Please read through it and let me know if you have any questions.

At a later date, I will submit a blog post that has the entire Revised Version of the NHCF that I’m suggesting we adopt as a church family. Please be praying about this. We hope to take congregational action on this at the Annual Business Meeting at the end of October/beginning of November.

Of the Lord’s Day

We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord's Day, celebrating the death and resurrection of Christ (Matthew 28:1-6; Colossians 2:16-17; John 20:19);that the day should be especially set aside for believers to gather together for worship by means of preaching and teaching God’s Word, prayer, observation of the ordinances, giving, and fellowship (Acts 2:42-47; 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; Psalm 118:24; Luke 10:42)
